Terms of Use

Last updated September 24, 2026

These terms govern your use of PopEdu, the web app available at www.populationedu.com (the “Service”). The Service is operated by Domenico Bencivenga, an individual developer based in Italy (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

PopEdu is an early-access product. Features may change, be paused or be removed, and availability is not guaranteed while we test it with students.

1. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old. The Service is meant for students and people connected to campus life. You may create one account, give accurate information and keep control of the email address you sign in with: anyone who can read your email can request a sign-in code.

2. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code or link sent to your email. You may also add a password to your account, which we store only as a salted hash; email codes keep working whether or not you set one. You are responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, harm other users or abuse the Service, and we may remove content at our discretion.

3. Your content

You own the content you add (profile details and photo, messages). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, display and transmit it only as needed to run the Service. Do not post anything illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, deceptive or that infringes someone else’s rights.

4. Connections and messages

You connect with another student by scanning their personal QR code (or opening their link); only connected students can message each other. Share your QR code only with people you want to hear from; you can generate a new one at any time from your profile. Report abuse to domenico.bencivenga03@gmail.com.

5. Information from third parties

Places, opening hours, ratings and photos come from Google; book information comes from Open Library; campus events are aggregated from official university calendars with a link to the source. We show this information as provided, with attribution, and we do not organise the events or run the places listed. Details can change: always check the official source before making plans or purchases.

6. Acceptable use

  • No automated access, scraping or bulk collection of data from the Service.
  • No impersonation of other people, universities or organisations.
  • No attempts to bypass sign-in, rate limits or other technical protections.
  • No use of the Service to send spam, run scams or harass anyone.

7. Intellectual property

The PopEdu name, logo, interface and original text are protected by copyright and other laws. University names and logos belong to the respective universities and are used only to identify campuses. See our Copyright notice for third-party content and how to report an infringement.

8. Disclaimer and liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for information supplied by third parties, or for dealings between students. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law grants you as a consumer.

9. Ending your account

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing domenico.bencivenga03@gmail.com. We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached or the Service is discontinued.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. The date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by Italian law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live. Questions about these terms: domenico.bencivenga03@gmail.com.
